Nova Hotels was in the news recently regarding our most recent project. We're excited to be opening another brand new location in Edmonton. It's location will make it convenient for guests to navigate to Edmonton's major attractions, a short drive to West Edmonton Mall, quick access to downtown and close proximity to the Edmonton Municipal Airport.

Nova building hotel at Yellowhead and St. Albert trails in Edmonton

EDMONTON — Edmonton-based Nova Hotels is strengthening its presence along the Yellowhead Highway with a new development in northwest Edmonton.
A 134-room Nova hotel under construction is expected to open in May at the northwest corner of Yellowhead Trail and St. Albert Trail.
"We think it's a nice location because it links together St. Albert to Edmonton, but also east to west," said Nova vice-president Aleksa Mrdjenovich. Nova also has hotels in Acheson, Hinton and Edson. "We find that the Yellowhead has been good to us."
Aimed at the business and family markets, the hotel will have conference and banquet facilities, a restaurant and lounge, and a fitness room.
Nova Hotels built its first hotel in 2000 in Yellowknife, which it has since sold.
It will be the 13th hotel for the chain, owned by the Mrdjenovich family. It has locations in Alberta, Saskatchewan and the Northwest Territories. The Mrdjenovich family also owns Nova Builders, which is building the hotel.
"Our main focus is the oil and gas sector. We're through Slave Lake, Hinton, Edson, Whitecourt, Peace River, Fort McMurray, Mrdjenovich said. "Most of our business is crews except in our Château brands, like in Edmonton, which is mainly corporate by the City Centre Airport, and in Fort McMurray, which is by the airport up there so we get a lot of corporate business there as well."
